Wedding Photography: Essential Knowledge For Taking On Your First Gig

The first paid job for any photographer is always an event of real significance, being prepared for the job will ensure that it goes as smoothly and successfully as possible. There is really no difference between your first professional wedding shoot and any other photo opportunity you have undertaken in the past, except that now you have clients to please. Keeping on top of things and making sure that you have everything you need for an issue free and professional job may seem a little nerve racking, but with an eye on the essentials you should be in pretty good shape.

Just like a non-paying shoot, equipment needs are the most important part of any professional job or photo opportunity. Lacking the lenses, filters and other camera equipment you need to make the most out of every shot can limit your results and leave you with a lackluster album to present to your new clients. Taking backups for everything will ensure that no last minute equipment issues pose a greater problem than they have to, packing a spare camera, battery and even a backup tripod would all be a smart move as you never know when your existing equipment may suffer an issue.

NFL refs approve deal, ready for Sunday games

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- NFL officials ended their labor dispute with the league by approving a new eight-year contract with a 112-5 vote Saturday, then hustled off to the airport to get to work.

Next stop, stadiums around the country.

And, the officials hope, anonymity.

''The last Super Bowl that I worked, when we got in the locker room, I said, 'You know, the best thing about this game, nobody will remember who refereed this game,''' said Scott Green, president of the referees' association. ''That's how we like to work.''

The vote ended a labor spat that created three weeks of increasingly chaotic games run by replacement officials who drew criticism of everyone from the average fan to President Barack Obama.

''It was pretty much 'Come on in and vote,''' Green said. ''We're going to talk football now. We're going to stop talking about CBAs and lockouts and now we're going to talk about rules and video and getting ourselves ready to work football games.''

They may get ovations similar to the one bestowed on the crew that worked Thursday's Cleveland-Baltimore game with the tentative deal in place.

The referees met for about an hour and a half Friday night to go over the contract, then gathered for another 30 minutes Saturday morning before approving the contract.

''We are obviously pleased to hear it,'' NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in an email to The Associated Press on Saturday.

Because they were aware of the financial parameters, most of the discussion by the referees involved non-economic issues such as year-round work and developmental squads, said Tim Millis, the association's executive director.

The deal came together quickly this week after an increasing chorus of complaints became impossible to ignore when a disputed touchdown call on the final play gave the Seattle Seahawks a victory over the Green Bay Packers on national television Monday night.

Many thought the ruling of a Seattle touchdown instead of a Green Bay interception was botched, and the labor dispute drew public comments from Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

By late Wednesday, the sides had a contract calling for refs' salaries to increase from an average of $149,000 a year in 2011 to $173,000 in 2013, rising to $205,000 by 2019. The current defined benefit pension plan will remain in place for current officials through the 2016 season or until the official earns 20 years' service.

The defined benefit plan will then be frozen. Retirement benefits will be provided for new hires, and for all officials beginning in 2017, through a defined contribution.

Beginning with the 2013 season, the NFL will have the option to hire a number of officials to work year-round. The NFL also can retain additional officials for training and development and assign those officials to work games. The number of additional officials will be determined by the league.

The officials that worked Thursday's Ravens-Browns game were cheered from the moment they walked onto the field. The difference between the regular crew and replacements was clear. The officials kept the game in control, curtailing the chippy play and choppy pace that had marred the first three weeks of the regular season.

''I think the thing we're most proud of is the lesson that we all learned,'' Green said. ''If you're going to be in a professional league, you've got top-notch coaches, you need professional officials as well.''

Motorola RAZR i to begin shipping in the UK from October 1.

Android Central

Right from launch day we'd heard early October would be the release timeframe for Motorola's new RAZR i. Now, at least one British retailer has narrowed that down further, and confirmed the device will begin shipping on October 1.

Clove Technology are set to receive stocks of the device imminently, and have taken to their official blog to confirm that they will be shipping the new Intel powered RAZR i this coming Monday. At £342 we still feel it's a little on the pricey side, but there is a lot to like. It sets the ball rolling in the Motorola/Intel partnership and we're excited to see where things go from here.

If you're interested in purchasing a RAZR i, be sure to check out our full review first, before parting with your hard earned.

China hits back at Japan PM's statement on islands

BEIJING (AP) ? China on Thursday assailed Japan's prime minister as obstinate and wrong for saying his nation won't compromise in their island dispute, as Japanese lawmakers and business leaders visited Beijing with hopes of mending ties.

Relations between Japan and China are at their lowest in years because of their spat over the island group in the East China Sea known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China. Japan says it bought the islands this month to thwart Japanese nationalists' more radical plans to develop them. But China saw the move as wrecking a prior arrangement with Tokyo, and it and many Chinese have responded with outrage.

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda said in New York on Wednesday that the islands are clearly an "inherent part of our territory, in light of history and international law." He said that issues over the islands should be resolved peacefully and by the rule of law.

In response, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said Thursday that "China is strongly disappointed and sternly opposes the Japanese leader's obstinacy regarding his wrong position." His statement repeated China's stance that Japan was ignoring historical facts and international laws.

"The country seriously challenges the postwar international order, but tries to take the rules of international law as a cover. This is self-deceiving," Qin said in a separate statement.

Senior diplomats from the two countries have met this week in New York and Beijing in an attempt to patch things over. But China still scrapped long-planned festivities scheduled this weekend to mark 40 years of diplomatic relations between the countries.

Instead, Jia Qinglin, a senior Communist Party official, met with members of the China-Japan Friendship Association on Thursday. He struck a friendly note by welcoming the Japanese elder statesmen as "old friends of the Chinese people" who had worked hard to promote exchanges and cooperation in economic, political and cultural areas.

But in remarks released by the Foreign Ministry, Jia reiterated China's position on the island dispute, and said Japan's actions had "pushed China-Japan relations to an unprecedented grim phase."

Yohei Kono, a former Japanese foreign minister, referred to the strife when he told his Chinese hosts he had come to Beijing "this time with a heavy heart."

The islands, held by Japan, are tiny and uninhabited but sit astride rich fishing waters and potentially large reserves of natural gas. They are also claimed by Taiwan.

Japan's purchase of some of the islands from their private Japanese owners two weeks ago sparked sometimes-violent protests in China that targeted Japanese-owned stores and factories.

Noda defended the purchase as an attempt to ensure their "stable management," but conceded, "It seems that China has yet to understand that."

Vets with disabilities get virtual roadmap for VA navigation

By Bill Briggs, NBC News contributor

A packed convention center ? even a place staffed with PTSD experts???is precisely the type of environment most service members and veterans are likely to avoid.?

For many military folks dealing with the symptoms of post-traumatic stress, crowds make them jumpy. And due to the attached social stigma of the disorder, the thought of being spotted at such an gathering would make lots of veterans cringe.?

But a virtual get-together where disabled veterans can anonymously ask questions about the anxieties weighing them down?

That's part of the thinking behind the first True Help Disability Web Expo taking place Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Standard Time. The free event, organized by Allsup ? a nationwide provider of services for people with disabilities???loops together more than a dozen leading health, disability, advocacy and social service organizations, several of them adept at working specifically with current and former service members.

Attendees simply need to register to chat all day from the comfort of their homes, local coffee shops, or their places of work. The expo will provide a "veterans booth" where military personnel past and present can seek and find suggestions, tips and advice on how and where to get treatment ? including a primer on how to successfully access and steer through the monolithic U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, said?Brett Buchanan, an Allsup?s VA-accredited claims agent.?

"In my experience dealing with veterans with PTSD and with depression, I find that the veterans do much better over the phone, when they?re in their house," Buchanan said. "I can have better conversations with them then when I meet them face to face.

"I think, absolutely, when you?re going to compare a Web expo to a live expo at an actual convention center, I don?t think you would get those individuals anywhere near that environment with those crowds," he added.

Allsup will bring together representatives from 15 national nonprofit groups that specialize in disabilities, including the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Brain Injury Association of America, the Invisible Disabilities Association and the National Family Caregivers Association.?

"Our hope is that veterans will find valuable information and resources that they just didn?t know existed," said Rebecca Ray, director of corporate public relations for Allsup. "We know veterans have a lot of options through the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense. But there are a lot of groups that help veterans that may be new to them."?

While attendees can live chat with experts throughout the day, the expo will offer two moderated sessions for service members and their families: "What You Need to Know About Veterans Disability," from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. CST, and "Wounded Warriors ? A Discussion on Veteran Disability Resources," from?2:35 to 3:00 p.m. CST.

"We dive into little nuances of the VA disability system," Buchanan said. "There are special considerations for different veterans ? specifically if the veteran has more than one disability that?s related to service, or if they?re a combat veteran they are given special consideration.

"We?ll be talking about the VA process," he added. "We?ll be taking people through, step by step, on filing a claim, what happens if the claim is denied, or what happens if you get a decision and you?re not satisfied with it: are you able to appeal it?"

Kimi Raikkonen believes Lotus need to make improvements for ...

Kimi Raikkonen believes Lotus need to make improvements for 2012 Japanese GP ? Formula 1 news

Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen believes that they really need to make some essential improvements in their car so as to score competitive points in the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix.

Raikkonen struggled during the qualifying of the Singapore GP and could not make his way into the final session. Nevertheless, he performed quite convincingly in the race and secured an inspiring 6th place finish after taking a start from 12th grid position.

Even though, he managed to score some important points in the preceding race, however, he is not feeling contended over the results as he wants to win the championship title this year. Therefore, he insisted that they need to make some substantial developments in their car in order to improve its pace in the remaining grands prix of the ongoing season.

Furthermore, he said that he is optimistically looking forward to see enhancements in the car in the next race and is aiming to carry on scoring points with consistency throughout the season ahead.

?I'm still third in the Drivers' Championship but we've got some improvements to make for the next races to be fighting with the cars in front,? said Raikkonen. ?Hopefully we can make a step forward in Japan and take it from there.?

In addition, he said that although he wanted to secure fifth position in the previous race ahead of Mercedes driver, Nico Rosberg. Nonetheless, he said that he is happy with his result and is targeting to show up stronger in the forthcoming races.

?After the result in qualifying today's race was not too bad, but I think we had a chance to do a bit better,? Raikkonen added. ?We weren't quick enough to be fighting for the podium but the first safety car didn't help us and maybe we could have gained an extra place without that,? the Finnish driver added.

Over and above, he called the last race quite boring for the drivers and the spectators as overtaking is very difficult on Marina Bay Street Circuit.

It will be extremely thrilling to see how the Finn comes up in the upcoming races.

Giant panda cub that died at U.S. zoo had abnormal liver

(Reuters) - The death of a six-day-old giant panda cub at the National Zoo in Washington - an agonizing blow to wildlife conservation efforts - could be linked to an abnormal liver, the zoo's chief veterinarian said on Monday.

A day after the zoo's staff failed to revive the cub with lifesaving measures, including CPR, the initial results of an examination showed the panda was likely a female whose body displayed no obvious signs of trauma or infection.

"Her coat was beautiful. It was in very good condition," veterinarian Suzan Murray said at a press conference.

The cub was born on September 16 but had not yet been given a name, in line with a Chinese tradition that pandas are not named for 100 days. The arrival was cause for celebration among zoo officials and wildlife conservationists given the daunting odds for the endangered species reproducing in captivity.

Fewer than 1,600 giant pandas are known to exist in the wild, and about 300 live in zoos and wildlife centers around the world. Breeding is a critical challenge. One in five cubs born in captivity die in their first year of life, the National Zoo said on its website.

Preliminary results of an examination of the cub show the tiny animal had a discolored liver, which was hardened in some areas, Murray said.

"This can suggest there was a liver component to the death," Murray said.

Another unusual finding, according to Murray, was fluid in the cub's abdomen, normal for adult pandas but odd for a juvenile. Pathologists were analyzing the fluids, Murray said.

"The amount appears moderate to increased for such a small cub," she said, adding that further testing was necessary to confirm a cause of death.

The body of the cub weighed about 3.5 ounces (100 grams).

Zoo officials said they were concerned about the reaction of the cub's mother, Mei Xiang, who had given birth after years of failed efforts at conception, including five "pseudo pregnancies" in which her hormone levels and behavior indicated she was carrying a cub when she was not.

Her first cub, Tai Shan, was born July 9, 2005. Tai Shan is now at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Wolong.

The zoo has used a Panda Cam to monitor Mei Xiang, who appeared to sleep well Sunday night and who ate her regular diet of bamboo, fruit and biscuits, the zoo said on its website.

"Watchers noticed her cradling an object, as she did before the birth of the cub. Scientists and keepers believe this is an expression of her natural mothering instinct," according to the zoo's website.

The cub's death was discovered Sunday morning after panda keepers and zoo volunteers heard a distress sound from Mei Xiang.

"We want to make sure that her behavior adjusts back to normal," said zoo spokeswoman Emily Grebenstein.

VINTAGE: Superbird Stars In Las Vegas

Probably the most outrageous car in U.S. showrooms in 1970 was the Plymouth Road Runner Superbird, an 18-foot-long aerodynamic muscle car that was deeply influenced by NASCAR racing and Warner Bros. cartoons. With its lofty rear wing and long added-on nose, the Superbird followed hot on the heels of the equally wild 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona.

The Superbird brought the concept to full fruition, though only for a single year.

The Superbird's most-enduring feature is its towering rear wing. (Photo: Barrett-Jackson) Barrett-Jackson's beautiful example of a rare 426/425hp Hemi Superbird (Lot #670) on Saturday earned $297,000, including buyer fee, one of the highest sales at the Las Vegas auction. Immaculately restored by Premier Body and Paint from a car with just over 20,000 original miles, the bright-yellow Superbird was rightfully one of the featured cars for the Vegas auction.

Just a limited number of ?winged warriors? were sold by Plymouth for homologation as a NASCAR entry, and this particular ?bird is rare even in this small flock.

?They only made 1,900-some of these cars, and they only made about 100 Hemi Superbirds,? said Darren Jasper, one of the partners of the rural Missouri shop that performed the restoration. ?The way the paperwork breaks it down, it?s one of only two that was ever made with the combination of the 426 and the color with an automatic in it. With the options on our car, it?s actually one of one; what breaks it down to be a one of one is actually the wheels.?

The wheels that are on the Plymouth are correct, Jasper added. ?That is coded out on the Broadcast Sheet. That?s the wheels that belong on it.?

Jasper and his partner, Jeff Abercrombie, own the car and have consigned it to the Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction under their dealership name, Premier Classics, he said. Their shop doesn?t specialize in Mopars, but this isn?t their first go-round with a Superbird.

The Superbird at Barrett-Jackson is one of the few produced with a 426 Hemi V8. (Photo: Barrett-Jackson) ?We do a little bit of everything,? Jasper said. ?That just happened to be one of the cars we ran across. We knew it was a rare car because we?ve done six of those cars now for different people. But we own this one.?

The Superbird and the earlier Dodge Daytona were efforts by Chrysler racing designers to use wind tunnels to create aerodynamic cars to run on NASCAR?s high-speed ovals. As the story goes, Richard Petty was driving for Plymouth when he got a load of the Daytona on the track in 1969 and wanted Plymouth to produce a similar race car. But Plymouth wasn?t prepared to build it.

In anger, Petty went over to Ford to drive for them, a relationship that lasted one year until the Superbird was readied and he was lured back.

Because the Belvedere that Plymouth had been racing was a slightly different shape than the Dodge Charger, additional engineering needed to be done for a similar aerodynamics formula to work. Repeated attempts to apply it to the Belvedere were unsatisfactory, so the designers switched the platform to the one used for the Road Runner, which still needed more aerodynamic experimentation as well.

Superbird's streamlined nose added an additional 19 inches to its length. (Photo: Barrett-Jackson) They developed their own more streamlined nose cone with retractable headlights ? which added 19 inches to the car?s overall length ? and the wing is broader than the one on the Charger. The distinctive reverse scoops on the front fenders scavenged air from the wheel wells, adding to the aerodynamics.

The refinements of the Superbird produced a wind-cheater that could soar at high speeds, the rear wing adding downforce in the rear to enhance traction. The aerodynamics of the Superbird reputedly beats many of the streamlined cars built today.

Under NASCAR homologation rules of the day, Plymouth had to produce just over 1,900 Superbirds for sale to the public. Soon, Plymouth dealerships had Superbirds in their showrooms, complete with graphics of the Warner Bros. Road Runner cartoon character holding a crash helmet and equipped with a horn that made his distinctive ?beep-beep? sound.

N.J. Gov. Chris Christie Draws Big Crowd in Missouri

Missouri Republican gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence got a big boost Sunday when New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie energized an estimated crowd of 1,000 people in southwest Missouri, according to KTTS. Christie was there representing the Republican Governors Association. His speech was aimed at incumbent Gov. Jay Nixon.

* A public rally was held in mid-afternoon at the Oasis Inn and Convention Center in northern Springfield. Christie sought to link Nixon's policies to those of President Barack Obama, according to the Springfield News-Leader. The governor spoke for about 20 minutes.

* Christie said, "I see startling similarities between the campaign run by the governor of Missouri and the campaign of the president of the United States."

* To illustrate the point, Spence released an advertisement earlier in the week arguing both Democratic candidates have failed to deliver on promises of job growth. Spence quotes Nixon's endorsement of Obama in 2008 and Nixon's remarks on receiving federal stimulus money in 2009.

* The video ends with a picture of Obama standing next to Nixon with the words "Nixon and Obama: They've failed Missouri together."

* Spence was pleased with the support from New Jersey's governor. KOLR reveals Spence said, "I don't think it's negative to have a bold leader like Chris Christie who will tell the truth. He will stand up for Missourians and get our once growing economy growing again."

* Former Republican state Sen. Chuck Wooten gave the Democratic response to Christie's speech. Wooten said, according to KOLR, "We don't want Missouri to be like where [Christie is] from. So I think it's wrong to bring someone in from a state that's in bad shape."

* The News-Leader backed up Wooten's comments. The media outlet reveals Missouri's unemployment rate is 7.2 percent. By comparison, New Jersey has the fourth-highest unemployment rate in the United States at 9.8 percent. The national average is 8.1 percent.

* Darrell Hickman of Nevada, Mo., attended the Christie rally. He believes both Nixon and Obama "tend to take credit for things they're not really due to take credit for," according to the News-Leader.

* Several national figures have spent time in Missouri campaigning for local races. Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell was in St. Louis on Aug. 22 stumping for Spence. Newt Gingrich is in St. Louis to raise money for Rep. Todd Akin.

* Spence trails Nixon by an average of 10 points, according to Real Clear Politics. The largest lead is 14 points and the smallest is nine points among three polls.

How to Roast Pumpkin Seeds | 6 Healthy Fall Snacks

Finding healthy snacks can be difficult, especially amidst a sea of more unhealthy than healthy options. Couple the issue of availability with the season?s change, which leaves people out of their bikinis and into layered clothes, and we?re all of the sudden far less aware of what we?re putting into our bodies.

But if healthy snacking is important to you like we think it is, take heart and fight developing that unwanted ?winter layer.? Try these six healthy do-it-yourself fall snacks from fitness expert and CEO of Step It Up With Steph,?Stephanie Mansour.

Pumpkin seeds ? You can buy store bought pumpkin seeds or you can roast pumpkin seeds yourself! After?carving pumpkins collect all of the seeds, give them a rinse, and spread them out onto a cookie sheet lined with foil. Then, sprinkle with salt and place in the oven at 400 degrees for 10 to 20 minutes. Making your own pumpkin seeds is a cheap and simple way to create your own nutritious fall snack.

Homemade apple cider ? Apples are great as is, but they?re even more delicious as homemade apple cider. After rinsing, core and peel apples then slice into quarters and puree in a blender or food processor until smooth; the finer the pulp, the more juice you?ll be able to extract. Next, spread a length of cheesecloth over a pitcher and pour the pulp on top. You can then add different spices to boost the flavor, like nutmeg, lemon peel or ginger.

Another way to enjoy apples this fall is to slice them up and dip them in a mixture of?half almond butter-half caramel. The half and half creation will still have the sweetness of the caramel but added protein from the almond butter.

In addition to pumpkin seeds, try making pumpkin walnut bread. Try adding some walnuts to your bread for an extra source of protein and healthy fat. Try this recipe for Pumpkin Spice Bread for a quick and easy yet healthy fall indulgence.

For another healthy fall snack, try a cinnamon acorn squash. To prepare this simple dish, cut an acorn squash in half and place face-down in an oven-safe baking dish pan with one-half inch of water. Bake in a 400-degree oven for about 30 minutes. Once cooked, remove from squash the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Then, scrape out the squash, add a few teaspoons of cinnamon and enjoy your sweet, healthy snack.

Eat a healthy fruit and nut trail mix. Stephanie recommends using seasonal fruits like apples and slicing them up into little bite-sized squares. Mix in your favorite nuts and eat with your hands!

When you?re considering a snack this fall, consider its health benefits first. Is it adding nutrition to your body or doing more harm than good? Try adding these easy, homemade recipes to your snacking options and we can guarantee they?ll taste better and be healthier than any store bought or quick option you might find.

Teen killed in ATV crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A teenager has died after police say he was hit on his ATV by a pickup.

This happened just after 8:00 Thursday night at the intersection of Eastland Parkway and Anniston Drive, in Lexington. Investigators say it was there, that the teen ran a stop sign and into the path of the truck.

Police had the entire intersection taped off and say the teen, whose name has not been released, was taken to UK Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Another teen came to scene and he says the victim is a friend of his. While this accident has him searching for words, he did say he feared something like this could happen after he last saw his friend playing with the ATV, on Tuesday.

"When I saw him riding the four wheeler down the street, I was thinking in my head that I knew something was getting ready to come up and happen," said Cody McCullough.

McCullough says the teen involved has a twin brother and says his heart is breaking for the victims family.

Police say counselors are being called in to the teen's school on Friday.

Put words that people are going to appreciate such as ?simple? and ?easy? to put them at ease. People dislike products that seem complex or hard to use, so when you say things like ?simple to use,? customers feel better about trying your product. This is a great way to increase business.

TIP! Get yourself some free advertising by sending your free products and articles to online directories offering free services to all. For example, if you have a free e-zine, submit it to numerous free e-zine directories.

If you are a driven person with high levels of energy, network marketing just might be a very suitable business match for you. Below you will find the best ways to manage your business successfully.

Always remember to reward your loyal customers with rewards for visiting or purchasing from you frequently. Your repeat visitors are one of your greatest assets, and you need to show them that you value them. It is moves like this that generates positive word of mouth advertising.

TIP! Don?t cope other people if you truly want to succeed by marketing over the Internet. Their filters are getting better and better at finding duplicate content, so even if you gain a little in the short term, you will end up losing later on.

As part of your internet marketing strategy, you should include some type of money back guarantee. Customers can feel secure ordering something they know can get their money back for if they aren?t happy. When you accept responsibility for products or services that may not work out for a customer, they are more interested in giving you their business.

Make sure you use emphasis tools when you develop text on your website. Emphasize a phrase or a specific word by bolding, underlining, or italicizing the given text. This can assist you in clarifying your message and help show your customers what your company is about.

TIP! Make it possible for your customers to rate and submit moderated reviews for your products, including the reasons behind their ratings. Honest feedback can help customers feel more confident with you and your products.

Utilizing image searches is a great way to increase your success with internet marketing. Don?t limit your search engine results to only text searches. Your site will show up in more searches, and thus receive more visits, if you add images that fit your content. It is common for someone to come to your site while searching for information, and stay because their interest was piqued. When people become more familiar with your website, they are more likely to return.

Get people to click ads by using discreet images that link to your product?s page. If the text matches the rest of the article, you can include it inconspicuously. Doing this will give you the ad on your page but will not make the page look spammy.

Make sure the word ?guaranteed? appears somewhere in your marketing copy. Even if they know that your guarantee hinges on how trustworthy you are, hearing the word helps people feel more at ease about giving you their business. Everyone works for their money, so they want to be certain that what they are purchasing isn?t going to just be money down the drain.

TIP! This business may be one of the exceptions to the commonly held belief that you should not mix business and pleasure. The reason being, that this can be viewed as more of a lucrative hobby rather than a high-pressure situation.

Integrate social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter into your Internet marketing efforts. Since they provide a quick and simple way to send promotions or updated site information, social media sites are an effective way to stay in touch with potential customers. Try not to make your content and tweets seem like sales pitches. A better option is to offer up content that enriches and entertains your followers, tempered with the occasional promotional blurb.

Internet marketing is an ever-changing phenomenon and researching up-to-date techniques will prove helpful. Choose someone who knows Internet marketing backwards and forwards to teach you the ropes. It?s possible to find expert advice from people proven in the internet marketing field for little or no cost. Choose a system that you are going to want to stick with. Starting up is a gradual process, but focusing your attention will help you become accomplished.

TIP! Find your niche. This can drive a great deal of traffic towards your site as people search for this unique niche.

Run some tests with your emails to see how effective they are, and figure out what works best for your customer base. The A/B test is a common way to do this. Develop an email campaign, then change one aspect of the creative to make two forms of the email. Change up your subjects, your introductions, or your wrap-ups to see what kind of language best encourages action. Disseminate the versions to two equal-sized groups of customers and see what the results are. You should use the email campaign that is the most popular.

You want to constantly gain more Internet marketing knowledge; your campaign?s goal should be to continue to find more opportunities for Internet marketing. This is counter intuitive, but the ideas is to build a feedback loop of customers generating business which generates more customers.

TIP! Offer subscription services for your most popular products. If there is a way to offer a monthly supply of your product, a subscription is a great way to keep them coming back for more.

You can attract customers to your website with a free offer. One easy freebie to offer is an article specifically geared toward your business. For example, if you run a construction business, offer an article providing advice to homeowners. When you give something away, you generate interest in your product that can lead to future sales.

In order to increase your income, you must increase the number of subscribers to your site. Split tests, offering two versions of a page to two groups, are a great way to test a new website. Then you choose the best one based on new subscriptions.

TIP! Do you have a company slogan or a statement of purpose? If so, list it in a prominent place on your website. This helps to keep your site professional while showing what you are all about.

Real-time leads are excellent for boosting your sales. Real-time leads are more valuable than other types of leads because if they are searching for products in your niche, they are likely in a buying mood. There is no split time between when you contact them after they fill out the form.

Keep detailed statistics. It could be traffic, refunds, sales, referrals, or anything else that can be measured on your website. By keeping track of these vital statistics, you will be able to plan future changes and additions to your website based on past experience.

TIP! Do not use AJAX and Flash too often. These sorts of add-on programs will not help your business get noticed.

You should include a page that has information or videos about the product you are selling. Doing this will make them feel like they have a better understanding of the product they are considering purchasing. This shows that you would rather inform them about the product than make a sale, leaving them the option to buy or not.

Being active in popular social media is an Internet marketing must these days. By creating and maintaining a Facebook page for your business, you encourage customers and fans to interact and spread the word about your products and services. Twitter is an awesome way to communicate informally with your audience.

Now it is time to apply these tips to your own business. They will give you a strong foundation to help your network marketing business thrive

Pay attention to the small details on your site. Place your title in the upper right corner on each page with a summary of what your site strives to provide to them. People visiting your site won?t always enter through the home page, so if they don?t understand your site they are very likely to move on to another.?

Fireworks in the early universe: In star-forming galaxies, energy bursts from massive central black hole accretion

ScienceDaily (Sep. 19, 2012) ? Galaxies in the early universe grew fast by rapidly making new stars. Such prodigious star formation episodes, characterized by the intense radiation of the newborn stars, were often accompanied by fireworks in the form of energy bursts caused by the massive central black hole accretion in these galaxies.

This discovery by a group of astronomers led by Peter Barthel of the Kapteyn Institute of the University of Groningen in the Netherlands is published September 19 in the Astrophysical Journal Letters.

Our Milky Way galaxy forms stars at a slow, steady pace: on average one new star a year is born. Since the Milky Way contains about a hundred billion stars, the actual changes are very slight. The Milky Way is an extremely quiet galaxy; its central black hole is inactive, with only weak energy outbursts due to the occasional capture of a passing star or gas cloud.

Bright, exotic radiation

This is in marked contrast to the 'active' galaxies of which there are various types and which were abundant in the early universe. Quasars and radio galaxies are prime examples: owing to their bright, exotic radiation, these objects can be observed as far as the edge of the observable universe. The light of the normal stars in their galaxies is extremely faint at such distances, but active galaxies can be easily detected through their luminous radio, ultraviolet or X-ray radiation, which results from steady accretion onto their massive central black holes.

Peculiar exotic objects

Until recently these distant active galaxies were only interesting in their own right as peculiar exotic objects. Little was known about the composition of their galaxies, or their relationship to the normal galaxy population. However, in 2009 ESA's Herschel space telescope was launched. Herschel is considerably larger than NASA's Hubble, and operates at far-infrared wavelengths. This enables Herschel to detect heat radiation generated by the processes involved in the formation of stars and planets at a small scale, and of complete galaxies at a large scale.

Initial inspection

Peter Barthel has been involved with Herschel since 1997 and heads an observational programme targeting distant quasars and radio galaxies. His team used the Herschel cameras to observe seventy of these objects. Initial inspection of the observations has revealed that many emit bright far-infrared radiation.

The Astrophysical Journal Letter 'Extreme host galaxy growth in powerful early-epoch radio galaxies', by Peter Barthel and co-authors Martin Haas (Bochum University, GER), Christian Leipski (Max-Planck Institute for Astronomy, Heidelberg, GER) and Belinda Wilkes (Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Cambridge, USA), describes their project and the detailed analysis of the first three distant radio galaxies.

Simultaneous grow

The fact that these three objects, as well as many others from the observational sample, emit strong far-infrared radiation indicates that vigorous star formation is taking place in their galaxies, creating hundreds of stars per year during one or more episodes lasting millions of years. The bright radio emission implies strong, simultaneous black hole accretion. This means that while the black holes in the centres of the galaxies are growing (as a consequence of the accretion), the host galaxies are also growing rapidly.

The Herschel observations thereby provide an explanation for the observation that more massive galaxies have more massive black holes. Astronomers have observed this scaling relationship since the 1990s: the fireworks in the early universe could well be responsible for this relationship.

Barthel: 'It is becoming clear that active galaxies are not only among the largest, most distant, most powerful and most spectacular objects in the universe, but also among the most important objects; many if not all massive normal galaxies must also have gone through similar phases of simultaneous black hole-driven activity and star formation.'
